Sedation Methods Fairhope, AL

Do you have a fear of going to the dentist? Do you have anxiety or nervousness just thinking about going to the dentist? If so, fear not, Dr. Phillip Greer of Sweet Water Dentistry in Fairhope, AL offers a few different forms of sedation that will help relax and calm you so that you can through your dental visit with ease! And even come back!

Here at Sweet Water Dentistry, we like to make sure that each patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible before any dental treatment is even started. This begins with earning the patient's trust, and getting the patients comfortable with us. We like to establish a wonderful patient relationship with each patient that walks into our doors. If you are still nervous about getting dental work done, here is some information about the different types of sedation that we can offer you to help. Both methods of sedation that we offer are conscious sedation, and require no needles.

The first method of sedation is nitrous oxide. With nitrous oxide, this is a conscious sedation method that does not put you to sleep. It is combined with oxygen and is administered through a nose piece, in which you simply breathe it in. Nitrous oxide is also commonly called "laughing gas" because it sends you to a state of euphoria. With this sedation method, you will be conscious, but you will not be nervous at all.

The next method of sedation offered here at Sweet Water Dentistry is oral sedation. With this sedation method, you will be prescribed an oral sedation pill that you will need to take AT  our office, under the direct supervision of Dr. Greer. With oral sedation, this is another form of conscious sedation, in that you may feel tired, but it is not meant to put you to sleep. With oral sedation, you will also feel like you are in a state of euphoria, but it will last a few hours. Because of this, you will need to have prepared for someone to pick you up from your dental appointment because you will not be able to drive.
